<HEADER>The BIND 9 Dynamic DNS Server module</HEADER>

This module provides support for the <A HREF=http://www.isc.org/bind>ISC
BIND</A> DNS software version 9 and above. </P><P>

This module supports both static and dynamic zones, as well as views and
dynamic slave updating. It also supports both IPv4 and IPv6 addressing in both
forward and reverse zones. It is possible to add, delete and modify records,
and to create and delete zones. The <I>named</I> daemon itself may also be
controlled from the module.
<BR><BR>

The ISC BIND product itself contains many options and allows a wide variety of
possible configurations. This module does not attempt to include all the
options available with BIND 9 since that would not only make this a very large
module, but would be difficult to maintain and unnecessary for most sites. It
seems reasonable to assume that most sites use <I>some</I> options, but very
few (any?) sites use all, or most, of them. As such this module supports those
options, as far as is practicable, which may be considered common to most sites.

This module began as a combining of the WebMin standard BIND (Version 8) DNS
module, and the third-party <I>dynbind</I> module which provided initial
dynamic DNS support.
<BR><BR>

Code changes made to this module can be found in the <I>
<A HREF='cl'>ChangeLog</A></I> file. The module itself has no
specific version number, but the ChangeLog is reasonably chronological. Hence,
the highest change number will indicate if your version is out of date or not.
<BR><BR>

The ChangeLog file will also specify if a piece of code requires a specific
version of the BIND software.
<BR><BR>

A <I><A HREF='note'>NOTES</A></I> file is also included, which administrators
should read. It contains items about the module which may initially cause
problems for new administrators, or which may seem as bugs. They are not.
<BR><BR>

Proposed future development work of the module can be seen in the <I>
<A HREF='td'>TODO</A></I> file.
However, it must be stressed that there is no guarantee of any project listed
in the file actually being implemented, nor any specified date when the work may
be implemented.
