          cEdit started out as a Notepad clone with syntax highlighting. It's purpose
          was to replace Notepad which at the time was the program I used primarly to
          edit HTML for me. I decided to go ahead and release it for other's to use if
          they so chose. To my surprise it become popular. People liked it enough that
          I ended up winning an award at PSC (planetsourcecode) for it. 
          <BR><BR>
          Requests started comming in daily for new features, one of the main one's MDI. So I worked it
          out and shortly after released cEdit 2 which was MDI. I spent the next few
          weeks providing bug fixes for cEdit 2.
          <BR><BR>
          However people soon started requesting more features, including built in FTP,
          HTML tag insertion, and MDI Tab navigation. I got to work on it and shortly
          after released cEdit 3. Over the course of about 2 weeks I got bug reports and
          fixed them up and re released and ended version 3 at 3.7. Then I decided to let
          cEdit die, figuring it was good and no need to make it better.
          <BR><BR>
          For the next few months I did no work on cEdit at all. I figured people would
          be happy and they had all that was needed. To my surprise though requests started
          comming in again. Somehow a rumor got out that I had been working on cEdit 4 which
          was a major overhaul of 3.7. At first I just ignored the requests but I was getting
          them almost daily so I decided to release cEdit final which was to be a heavily 
          fixed up version of cEdit 3.7. I basicly told everyone this would be the final release
          and that further on I would begin developing it as shareware.
          <BR><BR>
          People wished me luck but expressed their wishes that it would remain free and
          opensource. So I finally decided to release it as such, and continue updates when
          I have time.
          <BR><BR>
          <B>cEdit Now</B><BR>
          cEdit is now a Freeware/Opensource text/code editor which I guess would be under
          the GNU License. You are permitted to take it, rename it, redistribute it, and even
          sell it if you can find someone who would wish to pay. However you must make sure credit
          is given to me (the original author) and that it is made known to the users they may
          distribute it freely as they wish.
