<P>Reusing resources is doable, but non trivial.. worth doing if you anticipate having many more shared resources, or multiple projects using them.  Of course this extends to bitmaps, icons, strings menus, so there are some good maintenance benefits for large projects.
<P>Technote TN035, &quot;Using Multiple Resource Files and Header Files with Visual C++&quot; gives an overview of the mechanisms VC++ uses.  It's pretty reasonable.  Basically, you've got to create an id range that won't conflict ( I used 29000+), then go to View/Resource Includes in your client project to #include the .rc and .h files.  I suggest a naming convention to identify shared resources (we use KP for KnowledgePath).  You'll only get the ClassWizard for shared dialogs in the project which owns the dialog.  Things get interesting too when you're editing the resources in the 'master' project and the clients don't see the changes... trick there is to delete the compiled .res in the client project.
<P>Not doing this can be very tricky, since most likely you'll want to reuse the same .cpp's.  They tend to pick up the wrong resource.h files, and all hell breaks loose with null/mismatched pointers.  Not fun to debug at all :) If you decide to be lazy and replicate the resources, you'll want to make sure that the id's in any resource.h files have the same values.
