<P>Hi all!
<P>I'm interested in either finding, writing, or helping to write an HTML Source Colorizing edit control. Juraj Rojko did some great work on a source code colorizer for VBScript, which can easily be extended to other simple languages.
<P>The main problem is that HTML is actually a more complex language to colorize than VBScript is. For example, here are the additional pathologies that need to be dealt with over Juraj Rojko's work:
<P>- Keywords that don't start with letters (ex: <STRONG>)
<BR>- Keywords that are arbitrary length (ex: <TABLE>, <TABLE BORDER=1>, etc)
<BR>- Strings that might not be strings (ex: <TABLE BORDER="1">, "1" is not a string)
<BR>- Multi-line comments (yuck)
<BR>- Possibly agressive colorizing inside multi-line comments (for example, Javascript put inside a comment block might want to be colorized based on the javascript language).
<P>Other things on the wish list might include making this editor even more generally useful by making it use a wordlist instead of hardcoding keywords, so it can be used for just about any programming language.
<P>If anyone is interested in working on something like this, or has something in the works like this, let me know. I need it, and I'm sure others would like to have it for their programs. I will contribute my time to help if you will contribute yours. Think about it.
