You start a project by choosing <SPANCLASS="GUIMENUITEM">New Project</SPAN> from the <SPANCLASS="GUIMENU">File</SPAN> menu.</P><DIVCLASS="MEDIAOBJECT"><P><DIVCLASS="CAPTION"><P>Creating a new project.</P></DIV></P></DIV><P>In this example, we create a project for the editor we develop in Part III of this book.</P><P>After you have created the project, you can add items to the project by choosing <SPANCLASS="GUIMENU">File</SPAN>-<SPANCLASS="GUIMENUITEM">Add file to project</SPAN>, or by creating new files.</P><DIVCLASS="MEDIAOBJECT"><P><DIVCLASS="CAPTION"><P>Adding a file to a project.</P></DIV></P></DIV><P>Project files (ending in the <TTCLASS="FILENAME">.bap</TT> extension) are saved by default in the directory you started BlackAdder from. Using <SPANCLASS="GUIMENU">File</SPAN>-<SPANCLASS="GUIMENUITEM">Save燩roject燗s</SPAN>, you can save your project file wherever you want.</P><P>The project explorer shows all files that are part of your project, and all Python files that can be found on the default Python path.</P><DIVCLASS="MEDIAOBJECT"><P><DIVCLASS="CAPTION"><P>The Project Explorer in BlackAdder.</P></DIV></P></DIV><P>By choosing <SPANCLASS="GUIMENU">Window</SPAN>-<SPANCLASS="GUIMENUITEM">Close Project</SPAN> you can close your project again. If you close BlackAdder and restart it, it will automatically open your projects again. Every project has its own window in BlackAdder. You can have more than one project open at a time, each in a separate MDI window, and each with its own set of panes.
