Q: "$2109 Cannot initalize the BDE" error when deploying InstallShield <br>

application: <br>

I get error $2109 "Cannot initalize the Borland Database Engine" when <br>

running an application deployed with InstallShield Express. What's wrong? <br>

A: A problem with either ISExpress or your setup configuration in ISExpress <br>

has caused the following entry to be left out of the registry: <br>

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE|BORLAND|DATABASE ENGINE | DLLPATH. <br>

This entry is probably empty on the deployed machine's registry. <br>

Enter the path to IDAPI32.DLL (usually \borland\common files\bde). <br>

Q: Raize components: "Can't Load Package" error: What does this error mean? <br>

  <br>

A: When installing the RzLstpck.dpc file, Component | "Install Packages..." | <br>

"Add...", make sure to click the "Directories..." button and set the correct <br>

System entry to the correct location of your Windows\System directory. <br>

load up an explorer extension. <br>

Workaround: <br>

     1.Run Regedit <br>

     2.Modify the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\ <br>

                       CurrentVersion\WinLogon\Shell <br>

       Originally this will say: Explorer.exe userhook.??? <br>

     3.Modify the key to say: Explorer.exe 4.Reboot the machine <br>

This is documented on InstallShield's website and it is not a problem in the <br>

IB install. Its actually a problem in InstallShield. <br>
