<P>If you are attempting to redraw screen items faster than the human eye can see then the way to crack the problem is to change the premise.
<P>Maybe what you need to do is think along the idea of doing multiple actions in your millisecond timeslice.
<P>Baring in mind that us slow humans have difficulty seeing things faster than 24 frames a second (image retention in biological systems). consequently if you are changing something 1000 times a second it wont be seen. (24 times a second is roughly what TV and film works at. Even if you multipy that by 10 you still only need events every 4 milliseconds.
<P>Callback procedures would be faster yes but to what gain if you cant see it. Unless you are getting a computer to play against the computer :) in which case why not just use a continuous event rather than a set if interupted events. This then would lead to multithreading (painful at least)
