<LI>　进行常规搜索时，用户可以通过选择下拉列表各项来定制搜索条件。在高级搜索中，HotBot则提供更复杂的限制搜索条件。用户可指定以特定的域名后缀（如“.com”、“.org”等），地理位置，时间范围，文件长度等项目进行搜索。还可专门查找个人主页，并支持自动单词变形搜索（需点选对应的选择框）。此外，在高级搜索中还可查询包含Java、Javascript、VRML(3D)、Acrobat、Shockwave、ActiveX、MP3、audio、video或image等内容的网页。提供9种语言选择。主页上显示ODP的目录。 <BR>
<LI>　搜索规则：支持通配符“？”和“*”，但“？”号只能通配一个字母，而“*”号只能用在词根左侧。允许在列表中选择精确匹配或使用“”号进行精确匹配查询。布尔搜索可通过在菜单中选择或在搜索中附加AND、 OR 或NOT命令实现。不管搜索结果中匹配的关键词是大写还是小写，只要与搜索条件相符就被列出。如以“games”搜索，则返回任何包含“games”、“Games”和“GAMES”的网页。 <BR>
<LI>　HotBot的“蜘蛛”程序名为“Slurp”。网站登录周期一般为3周。 <BR>
<LI>　（注）： Hotbot于2002年12月改为“集合式”搜索引擎。该引擎类似元搜索引擎（META Search Engine），但区别是，新版HotBot并不同时调用多个搜索引擎搜索，而是由用户从Inktomi（默认）、Fast、Google和Teoma四个后台引擎当中自行选择单个搜索引擎进行检索。</LI></UL><BR></td>
