PLATFORMS </H1><!--docid::SEC275::--><P>This table lists platforms and toolchains known to be supported byLibtool. Each row represents completion of the self test suite shippedwith the Libtool distribution on the platform named in that row.</P><P>There is a <TT>`PLATFORMS'</TT> file maintained in the Libtool source tree,updated whenever a Libtool user volunteers updated information, or whenthe Libtool team runs pre-release tests on the platforms to which theyindividually have access.</P><P>The table from the latest source tree at the time of writing follows:</P><P><DL COMPACT><DT><CODE>canonical host name</CODE><DD>This is the configuration triplet returned by <CODE>config.guess</CODE> oneach system for which the test suite was executed. Where the developerwho ran the tests considered it to be significant, versions of tools inthe compiler toolchain are named below the configuration triplet.<P><DT><CODE>compiler</CODE><DD>The compiler used for the tests.<P><DT><CODE>libtool release</CODE><DD>The version number of the Libtool distribution most recently tested forthe associated configuration triplet. The GNU Autotools all use an alphaversion numbering system where `odd' letters (a, c, e, g etc.)represent many CVS snapshots between the `even' lettered (b, d, fetc) alpha release versions.
