<PRE>Read the installation instructions in the adapter manual carefully.
Follow these instructions to install the adapter in your computer.
With PCI adapters, due to the plug & play facility of PCI, the Windows 2000
system is able to find, identify, and configure an adapter automatically.
The driver is not on the Windows 2000 CD.
If you install a SysKonnect SK-9Dxx Gigabit Ethernet Windows 2000 will
ask for a new driver. Insert the installation disk (e.g. SysKonnect CD) and
follow the instructions from Windows 2000.
If you install Windows 2000 with an already inserted SysKonnect SK-9Dxx Gigabit Ethernet
Windows 2000 will not ask for a driver. The adapter can be
found as "PCI Ethernet Controller" under "Other Devices". To install the
driver you have to do a driver update as described in the next section.

<PRE>On the desktop right click on "My computer" and select "Manage". In
"Device Manager" find the adapter you wish to update and double
click. Then click on "Driver and choose "Update Driver ...".
Follow the instructions given by Windows 2000 to locate the driver.
If the driver which is found to be the latest is not the one you
want to install select the checkbox "Install one of the other drivers"
and continue. Select the driver to install in the next listbox and
continue.
A message will be displayed that the driver is not digitally signed by
Microsoft. Click YES and continue.
When you see the message "Windows has finished installing the software
for this device" click FINISH to close the wizard.
Please note that the latest version of the SK9DW2K driver is
available for download on the SysKonnect web site under

</FONT>
</H2>
<PRE>The SK9DW2K.sys driver allows you to modify several options
in order to optimize the operation of your
SysKonnect SK-9Dxx Gigabit Ethernet.
The driver options can be set as follows:
Step 1.
In "Network and Dial-up Connections" right click on the adapter
you want to configure and select "Properties". Then click on
"Configure" and "Advanced".
Step 2.
In the "Property" box, select the option that you want to change
and enter the desired value in the "Value" box.
Step 3.
Press OK when finished.
Step 4.
Windows 2000 will reload the driver now with the changed settings.
The parameters supported by the driver are described below.
Max Frame Size
------------
Default value: 1514 (decimal)
Valid range: 512..9014 (decimal)
This parameter specifies the maximum frame size in bytes that the driver
will support. The performance of your network usually increases when
a large packet size is used. Do not use values larger than 1514 if you
are not sure if your network supports jumbo frames.
Link Selection
--------------
Default value: "Auto"
Valid values: "Auto"
"10 Mb Half Duplex"
"10 Mb Full Duplex"
"100 Mb Half Duplex"
"100 Mb Full Duplex"
"1 Gb Half Duplex"
"1 Gb Full Duplex"
This parameters determines the link speed and duplex mode
- "Auto" Auto negotiation is enabled
- "10 Mb Half Duplex" force 10 Mb link speed in half duplex mode
- "10 Mb Full Duplex" force 10 Mb link speed in full duplex mode
- "100 Mb Half Duplex" force 100 Mb link speed in half duplex mode
- "100 Mb Full Duplex" force 100 Mb link speed in full duplex mode
- "1 Gb Half Duplex" force 1 Gb link speed in half duplex mode
- "1 Gb Full Duplex" force 1 Gb link speed in full duplex mode
For fiber adapters "1 Gb Full Duplex" is available only.
Checksum Offload
----------------
Default value: "None"
Valid values: "None"
"Rx TCP/IP Checksum"
"Tx TCP/IP Checksum"
"Tx/Rx TCP/IP Checksum"
This parameter allows the configuration of the hardware checksum offload for TCP/IP
- "None" checksum offload is disabled
- "Rx TCP/IP Checksum" checksum offload for receive is enabled only
- "Tx TCP/IP Checksum" checksum offload for transmit is enabled only
- "Tx/Rx TCP/IP Checksum" checksum offload for both receive and transmit is enabled
Flow Control
------------
Default value: "Auto"
Valid values: "Disable"
"Rx PAUSE"
"Tx PAUSE"
"Rx/Tx PAUSE"
"Auto"
This parameter determines the PAUSE frame handling
- "Auto" (default) PAUSE frame receipt and transmission is optimized
- "Disable" PAUSE frame receipt and transmission is disabled (recommended)
- "Rx PAUSE" PAUSE frame receipt is enabled
- "Rx/Tx PAUSE" PAUSE frame receipt and transmission is enabled
- "Tx PAUSE" PAUSE frame transmission is enabled
Wake Up Capabilities
-----------------
This parameter is only available for copper adapters
Default value: "None"
Valid values: "None"
"Magic Packet"
"Wake Up Frame"
"Both"
- "None" wake on LAN capabilities are disabled
- "Magic Packet" wake up computer with MagicPacket(TM)
- "Wake Up Frame" wake up with special wake up frame
- "Both" both possibilities are enabled
