.SH DESCRIPTION
.B wlanctl
is used to monitor and control the state of the MAC and MAC management 
elements of the am930_cs driver. All commands, except the version command
are issued to a given
network interface (eth0 etc.).  Commands issued will affect the MAC
layer independently of any IP interface configured on top of the network
interface.

.BI scan " startch endch Kusperch bssid bsstype scantype ssid"
Instructs the MAC management element to scan for Basic Service Sets (BSS's). 
Upon completion of the scan, the discovered BSSs will be displayed.  The
output format is: "<channel> <beacon interval> <capability info> <ssid>" .
The arguments are:

First channel to scan (1-14).

Last channel to scan (1-14).
.IP "\h'3'\fIKusperch\fR"
KMicroseconds to spend scanning each channel.

Colon separated IEEE802 address indicating which BSS we want to scan for. 
The bssid 
.I ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff 
is the wildcard, using this bssid will scan for all BSS's.

Specifies the type of BSS to scan for. Valid values are:

Service Set Identifier (SSID), a string identifying the networks to
scan for.  Any BSS on the channels scanned with a matching SSID
(and matching the bssid argument) will
be returned by 
.B "netlist" .  
To scan for all BSSs using a wildcard SSID, use the empty
string.  The maximum SSID length is 32 characters.

Retrieves and displays the list of networks that were detected during the
last scan.

Sets the ethernet to 802.11 frame conversion type.

provided must be present in the netlist.

Instructs the MAC management layer to begin a new BSS. The arguments are:

Specifies which channel (1-14) to create the new BSS on.  Different channels
are legal in different regulatory domains.  
Here's the list from 802.11/D10.0: USA-FCC(1-11), Canada-IC(1-11), 
EU-ETSI(1-13), Spain(10-11), France(10-13), Japan-MKK(14).

Specifies the time in Kus between the transmission of beacon frames
in the new BSS. Higher values reduce 802.11 management overhead, lower values
increase the likelyhood that passive scanning stations will detect the BSS.

Currently unsupported, Should be zero.

Service Set Identifier (SSID), a string identifying the network. The 
maximum string length is 32 characters.

required for Infrastructure networks.

the joined SSID.

LAN card.

Creates a new BSS on channel 2 having a beacon interval of 200 Kus,
an ATIM window of 0 and having SSID WLAN_AVS. Note that the BSSID is not 
specified, this is because the bssid is created by the MAC management element.

Performs an active scan for 100 Kus each on channels 1 through 12.
All BSS's will be recognized, both infrastructure and independent.  The
"ff: ... :ff" thing is just a shortened version of ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff.
It's only shortened for formatting purposes here in the man page.  Use
the full string on the command line.

.B wlanctl eth1 netlist
Will provide a listing of the BSS's found. A shell script can then be used
to select which BSS to join.

Joins the given BSS, if that BSS is one of the ones listed by netlist.
