IAAPA Organizes Two-Day "Future of the Industry" Seminar at Efteling

On October 7 and 8, IAAPA is staging a two-day seminar at Efteling in the Netherlands.

Developments in the leisure sector in general and the amusement park sector in particular will be the subjects
under discussion. Trend watcher Li Edelkoort and Tony Baxter, vice president creative development of Disney Imagineering,
are just two of the experts who will be expressing their views on the opportunities and threats in this sector.

As a sector, tourism has grown explosively over the past 30 years and will continue doing so in the years ahead.
European tourism is expected to double in the coming 20 to 25 years, while employment in the industry will increase
by 15 percent during the next decade.

Various interesting developments have also taken place in the amusement park sector. To mention a few: the arrival of
American chains in Europe (Disney, Warner Bros, Universal, Paramount, Six Flags); the coming about of the European chains
like the Tussauds Group, Grevin & Cie; the increased interest for branded parks and attractions (Lego, Autostadt, Heineken
Experience, Ravensburger Spieleland, ZDF Medienpark). Many amusement parks and attractions have added new elements to their
existing ones: residential accommodation, live entertainment and shows, shopping centers, educational activities. This year
there was also an increase in year-round activities. All of this, combined with an increase in government participation in
the leisure sector made for an eventful year.

At this year's seminar, a number of leading speakers will describe future developments in the recreation industry. What
will amusement parks look like in 50 years? What will be the role of entertainment technology? Will roller coasters continue
to be built higher and faster every year?

This two-day learning experience will naturally have its relaxing side as well. Efteling in Kaatsheuvel, the Netherlands,
celebrating its fiftieth anniversary, does not confine itself to a look back at half a century of nostalgia and fairy-tale
amazement, it also takes this opportunity to look into the future of our industry.

IAAPA supports its members in the areas of marketing, safety, improved efficiency and profitability, based on the highest
professional standards and values in our industry. For more information, contact Jeff Bertus at IAAPA European Office:
