<p>The Office of International Services is part of the Division of Student Affairs of the University of Pittsburgh.&nbsp; The staff of OIS exists
to be of assistance to the many foreign students and scholars affiliated with the University.&nbsp; The staff of OIS is available to provide information,
assistance and guidance to you with regard to the various regulations of the United States government which affect your stay in the United States.&nbsp;
You will receive a copy of the "Foreign Student and Scholar Handbook" prepared by OIS at your orientation.&nbsp; Among the many issues covered in this
resource will be information on these regulations.
<p>Anytime you are planning to leave the US and to re-enter at a later date, you must bring your visa documents to the staff in OIS.&nbsp; Please
do this at least one week prior to your planned departure.&nbsp; You are also required to be a full time student, to maintain a valid passport,
and to apply for an extension of your stay if you need to do so.&nbsp; The OIS staff can advise you regarding these requirements.&nbsp; In addition,
you are not permitted to engage in employment except on-campus employment unless you receive special authorization.&nbsp; Unauthorized employment
is a very serious violation of these regulations.

<a href="http://www.pitt.edu/~ppc">Pitt Program Council</a> - is an
organization which coordinates shows, guest speakers, movies, special events,
aerobic classes and more.&nbsp; They also sponsor trips to Panama City
Beach in Florida during Spring Break (in March), to Daytona Beach in Florida
in May, as well as trips to concerts, sporting events, etc.
<a href="http://www.pittsburghpanthers.com">Pitt Sporting Events</a>
tickets may be purchased at the William Pitt Union Ticket Office to watch
basketball and football teams play.&nbsp; Pitt also has many other athletic
teams to watch: volleyball, swimming, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, etc.&nbsp;
Game schedules are available at the Student Activities Fair.
<a href="http://www.education.pitt.edu/intramurals/">Intramural teams</a>
students may also join intramural or unofficial team sports.&nbsp; These
are groups which are formed among friends, residence halls etc. in which
anyone can join.&nbsp; Some examples are: lacrosse, basketball, volleyball,
rowing etc.
<a href="http://www.fnipgh.com">Friday Night Improv</a> - held in the
Studio Theater in the Cathedral of Learning.&nbsp; Students gather on Friday
nights for improvisational acting.&nbsp; Anyone may participate or you
can just watch.&nbsp; Either way, it is a great time.

<a href="http://www.csc.clpgh.org/">Carnegie Science Center</a>
<a href="http://www.pghhistory.org">Heinz History Museum</a>
<a href="http://www.kennywood.com/">Kennywood Amusement Park</a>, Kennywood Boulevard.&nbsp; Pittsburgh's only 
amusement park and has been nicknamed the roller coaster capital of the world. Call 461-0500 for details.Open May 
September.
