Initially, we contacted the College Board, asking if we could use their apclasses in an open source software project. This is the reply we received:</P><BLOCKQUOTE><P><I>We have given careful consideration to your request. AP materials are currently not permitted to be licensed for use on the worldwide web. Regrettably, therefore, we must deny your request at this time. Please be advised that we are maintaining a file of requests for internet use of these materials; if and when our licensing policy is revised to include such use, ETSwill send a notification card to each requester.</I></P><P><I>As an alternative, you may want to hot link to the College Board's and/or ETS's websites at www.collegeboard.org and www.ets.org respectively.</I></P> <P><I>Please feel free to write to this office if you would like to use ETS copyrighted material for any other purpose in the future.</I></P></BLOCKQUOTE> <P>I found the College Board's response very dismaying. I found their suggestion that we link to their site as an "alternative" to using the code ridiculous and offensive.
