Enriched Text attributes are applied by markingtext with left-button drag-select, then pulling down the<U>E</U><B>dit</B>menu, which contains options for the various availableattributes. The Composition window is a<I>wysiwyg</I> editor. Whenattributes are applied to text, they are displayed as they shouldappear to the recipient.<P><HR><B>NOTE:</B><BR>There is no way to guarantee that theappearance of the message in theComposition window will exactly match whatthe recipient sees. First, the recipient may nothave a MIME-capable mail tool. Second,MIME-capable mail tools may not alwayshandle Enriched Text, or if they do, they maynot do so in exactly the same way as<CITE>Ishmail</CITE>.Third, even if the recipient is using<CITE>Ishmail</CITE>,you may choose a font for the Enriched Textthat is different than the one your recipient isusing to display it.<HR></P><P>Other data types can be added as<I>body parts</I>. Body parts can beeither in-line or external. External body parts are most useful forlarge data files that you don't want to physically copy, but rathersend a pointer. Body parts are added to the message from the<U>I</U><B>nclude/Attach</B> -> options on the Message pull down menu. Theformer creates and in-line body part while the latter creates anexternal body part. (See<A HREF="bqbqgMBPQJ9X3cS.html">Include/Attach Option</A> for moreinformation.)<P><CITE>Ishmail</CITE> does not have the ability to create or edit anything otherthan text (plain or Enriched). Files containing data of anothertype must be created by some other program.<P>Each body part can have a description tag, defined by the user.After a body part is created, a place holder box is left in thecomposition window, containing a button and the description tag.The button is labeled<B>Delete</B>. Pressing it causes the body part to bediscarded.<P>MIME messages actually consist of 7-bit ASCII text. Rich Textattributes are included as mark up tags. Other data types areencoded using a process, similar to<I>uuencode</I>, which convertsbinary data into 7-bit ASCII characters. If a MIME encodedmessage is sent to a recipient whose mail reader can't handleMIME, the message is still readable. However, the Rich Textmarkup will appear in the message.
