The FAQ is also growing into a repository of Winsockprogramming information for all levels of programmers. Please <ahref="mailto:tangent@cyberport.com">email me</a> if you have anycorrections or additions for the list.</p><p class=lmargin>If you would like to view this FAQ off-line, you candownload a <a href="wskfaq.zip">ZIPped version</a> (278K, last packaged2000.04.29) of these pages.</p><h3>What's New?</h3><p><b>2000.04.25</b><br><p class=inset>Added info to the item about <ahref="newbie.html#abnormalclose">detecting abnormal disconnects</a>warning against using keepalives to detect these sorts of problems.</p><p><b>2000.04.24</b><br><p class=inset>Fixed several "point-0" problems. (Yes, FAQs have them,too!)</p><p><b>2000.04.23</b><br><p class=inset>Finished the redesign. This also marks the firstFAQ announcement in several months.</p><p class=inset>Added the review of Jones and Ohlund's <i><ahref="reviews/npwindows.html">Network Programming for MicrosoftWindows</a></i>.</p><p class=inset>Added an article by Tom Sanfilippo that shows<a href="articles/wscontrol.html">how to use the undocumented<code>WsControl()</code> function</a>. This function is used by Windows95's winipcfg program to view and change various IP parameters. Thereis no documented way to get at a lot of this info, so this article isvery welcome! Thanks, Tom!</p><p class=inset>(I didn't plan it, but this "FAQ rebirth" occurred onEaster Sunday. Apropriate, no?)</p><p><b>2000.03.26</b><br><p class=inset>Today I began a total revamp of the FAQ's look, contentand organization. Virtually every FAQ item got minor changes, and severalhave been completely rewritten.</p><p class=inset>The FAQ's organization is rather different now, too. Manyof the items from the previous "newbie" and "advanced" sections havebeen culled to make a new "intermediate" section. Another problem Ifixed is that the old FAQ organization required that I always add newitems at the end of a section instead of near related items. For thesame reason, the previous FAQ organization didn't allow me to deleteor move items. For these reasons and others, if you had hyperlinks toparticular items on these pages, they are definitely now broken!</p><p class=inset>Most importantly for you, the reader, is that I'vemade quite an effort to make this FAQ more maintainable. Hopefully thiswill decrease the amount of procrastinating I do, so changes andadditions will get done on a more timely schedule.</p><p><b><a href="history.html">Previous "What's New" Entries...</a></b></p><h3>What Is It That You Want, Exactly? :)</h3><p>4/24/2000 - I just took a look at the keyword report that the FAQ'ssearch engine puts out. This tells me what people are looking for mostoften in the FAQ. I fixed the number one item with a better sectiontitle. The second most-used term is "UDP", something this FAQ doesn'tcover.
