Greg,

You are correct in that one big advantage of using MFC versus a propietary
API is the huge number of their party add-ons, tools and support that are
available for MFC. These can help a development team finish a project
much faster than if they had to implement those features from scratch on a
propietary API.

Our WM_MOTIF library also allows you to move MFC Applications to UNIX. Our
white paper has a full section on justifying the use of a framework based
on teh MS Windows API versus using a propietary class library or API. We are
considered the most cost effective alternative in the market. Our product is
runtime royalty free and we offer source code (for an additional cost). You
can retrieve the WM_MOTIF white paper in WinHelp form via anonymous FTP
from host ftp.uu.net directory /vendor/uno.

Very soon now we will be making available a low end version of the library
called "WM_MOTIF Lite" from our FTP directory at no cost. With WM_MOTIF Lite
you will be able to evaluate the feasibility of your MFC projects under UNIX
using our library.

I just sent you a more detailed message with basic information on WM_MOTIF.
