On error (not enough memory available), <CODE>calloc</CODE> returns<CODE>NULL</CODE>.</P><DT><B>Limits</B><DD><P><UL><LI>Clearing the memory may not have the expected effect on all platforms:pointers in the block may not be <CODE>NULL</CODE> and floating point variables maynot be zero (0.0).
