Flash Memory Programmer Readme for the Intel(R) StrongARM(R)
SA-1110 Microprocessor Development Board, V0.3, Feb 4, 2000.

************************************************************/

Description:

This kit contains version 0.3 of the SA-1110 Flash Memory Programmer
for the SA-1110 Microprocessor Development Board.

JFLASH is example software for programming the on-board Flash using a
PC's parallel port via the JTAG tap on the base station header J10.
This uses the existing cable shipped with the SA-1110 Microprocessor
Development Board. The software runs on Windows 9x* only.
Both the source and executable files are included.

This version of the JFLASH software supports both the SA-1110
Microprocessor Development Board and the SA-1111 Microprocessor
Development Module.

Installation:

Create a new folder and unzip the Jflash.zip file into it. You can
also optionally add the path to your Autoexec.bat file (requires
reboot for path to take affect).

Operation:

To run open a DOS* window and change directory to the same folder as
the Jflash.ZIP file was unpacked too (not required if you added the
path to Autoexec.bat). Type the command "jflash9x" to start the
JFLASH software. You will be prompted for the name of the binary
image to use for programming the flash.

When the SA-1111 Development Board is installed you must set switch 8
of switchpak SW2 to designate the target. Set SW2-8 'off' to program
the flash on the SA-1111 board. Set SW2-8 'on' to program the flash
on the SA-1110 Board.

This software was tested with both the Intel 28F160S3 FlashFile(TM)
and the 28F128J3A Intel(R) StrataFlash(TM) components. The sample
image file Angel.bin (V207d) works with both the FlashFile and the
StrataFlash components. The sample image file EbootFF.bin (V3.0)
only works with the FlashFile component. The sample image file
EbootSF.bin (V3.0) works only with StrataFlash component.

Programming times using a Pentium II 366MHz are about 1 minute per
64KB using Windows98.

The SA-1110 Development system may need to be powered down then back
up after flashing a new image.
