This routine arranges for subroutine

to be called after

seconds. If

is ``0'', the alarm is turned off and no routine will be called.
The returned value will be the time remaining on the last alarm.
.SH Restrictions
Both
.PN alarm
and
.PN sleep
interact. If
.PN sleep
is called after
.PN alarm ,
the
.PN alarm
process will never be called. SIGALRM will occur at the lesser of the
remaining
.PN alarm
time or the
.PN sleep
time.
