The

filter is the print filter for print function 
.MS pr 1 .
When
the \fB\-p\fP option is specified in
.MS lpr 1
to print a job, the 
.PN ln01pp
filter is invoked. The filter sends the appropriate
control sequences to the LN01(S)
to set the size of the printable area on a sheet of paper. The filter then calls
.PN /bin/pr .

The 
.PN ln01pp
filter should be specified in the \fBpp\fP field of the 
.PN /etc/printcap
file.  For further information, see 
.MS printcap 5 .
It is invoked when the \fB\-p\fP option is used with the
.MS lpr 1
command to print a job.
