you could control the amount of memory it takes. Changing this value will
change the number of screens you can scrollback to.

The toggles option allows you to change various variables in the program.
The toggles are simply Yes or No variables that change the program's
behaviour.

This option sets the local echo on or off. If local echo is set to Yes then
everything that will be typed from the keyboard will be echoed both to the 
screen and to the modem.

This option sets the strip high on or off. If strip high is set to Yes then
everything coming from the modem will be stripped of its 8th bit.

This option sets the destructive backspace on or off. If this option is set
to Yes then a backspace, '\\b', coming from the modem will move the cursor
one step back and erase the character at that location. If this option
is set to No then the cursor will be moved back but the character will not
be erased.

This option tells the program whether to ask you for the device to
use every beginning of a session or whether to use the default device from
the configuration file.

These options let you edit the prefixes and suffixes to be used by all the
devices and all of the phonebook's numbers. To edit them simply press 'e'
or 'E'.

This string is the string that will be sent to the active device when you
exit the program. Strings in termite have special symbols that are replaced
at run-time. See section on macros.

This string is the connect string that will be looked for to decide whether
a connection was made or not.

This option lets you edit the no connect strings which are used by the dialer
to decide whether a connection was made or not. To edit the strings press

This string is the command to run when uploading using this protocol.
The same four parameters used by the download exec can be used here (see

This toggle is used with protocols who need to ask for a file name when
downloading, I.e, Xmodem. If this is set to Yes then termite will ask you
for a file name before calling the protocol. This file name will replace
the !F in the exec string.

These toggles if set to Yes tell termite to change the current directory
to the download directory before calling the protocol itself.

.I Signature

This string is the signature of the protocol. Termite looks for this string
while in terminal mode and if it recieves it the download protocol is 
initiated. The string consists of 20 hexadecimal numbers. Termite breaks
down the string into sets of two digits and converts them into integers.
So if you want to write the number 3, be sure to write 03 and not just 3.

This option lets you edit the function keys macros. For more information
read the section about macros.

.B Save & exit

This option lets you save the current configuration to the current 
configuration file, so if you are used the '-other' command-line option 
the configuration will be saved to it.

This option just exits the menu.
.SH MISC
Unlike minicom, termite treats two escapes as one in order to avoid the 
need for the timeout. I have found it easy to just define in my keyboard
definitions that Alt-ESC will send two escapes and I use that combo instead
of pressing escape twice. Perhaps in later versions I will rewrite the
keyboard routines so that I will be able to do what minicom does.

Termite was developed using ncurses 1.9.9e so if you encounter any problems
in compiling or with the screen updating or drawing, try updating to a
newer version of ncurses. In fact termite will not compile on old versions
of ncurses. It should compile on anything newer than 1.9.0 but I can not
promise anything.

Termite does not read encrypted phonebooks.

Termite's configuration file is usually in your home directory. However,
this can be bypassed by a command-line, so the configuration file can be
anywhere.
