The ACS quicknet driver has been developed to the specifications of the new
Linux "/dev/phone" device.  In this regards, the ACS umd_phone daemon is
meant to operate with /dev/phone generically and to use the vendor id
capabilities to detect and apply vendor specific features when needed.  This
should allow umd_phone to be extended easily to any card which chooses to
follow the /dev/phone standard, and not just the Quicknet LineJack cards.

ACS has been tested with Linux 2.2.14 with the ixj module and LineJack
cards.  If you have PhoneJack cards, it is possible that ACS will
misidentify them as LineJacks and crash unless you modify the umd.conf to
explicity skip over PhoneJack devices.

ACS will auto-identify /dev/phone devices up to the capacity of your
system.  It will also perform the LineJack "linetest" and busy out any
LineJack device that fails to pass.

Our initial testing did find some issues with driver responsiveness, though
these issues may go away with post 2.2.14 drivers and/or newer LineJack
cards (we tested with old ISA PnP cards).
