This manual page documents briefly the
.BR casio
program.
This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution
(but may be used by others), because the original program does not
have a manual page.

is a backup and restore utility for a CASIO digital diary.
Currently, the BOSS and ILLUMINATOR series are supported.

The direction of the data transfer.
.B \-r
is used for reading data from the CASIO to the PC.

for the opposite direction.

The PC's serial port that has to be used. Specify as

The number of bits transfered for one byte,

The name of the file where the backup data are to be written
to or read from.

Increase debug level.

Set debug level. Debug level 6 will only print the setup info and exit.
.SH CONFIGURATION
So that the program could run, you must have a configuration file
".casiorc" in your home directory.

The configuration file consists of optional lines of format
.B keyword:value.
Possible keywords are: passwd, line, speed, parity, bytelen, dbase, debug.
.SH REMARKS
The layout of the used data file is not directly in a readable format
since all data records as needed for the CASIO are not really processed
into a convenient format. The file data are used for backup/restore
purposes only and should not be edited.

CAUTION: Do not interface the CASIO directly to the PC's serial port, since
this may cause permanent damage to the CASIO. Always use the circuit as
described in /usr/doc/casio/circuit*.gif. It contains level converters for
converting the +12/-12 Volts levels on the PC side to the +5/0 Volts levels
that the CASIO uses.

Also keep in mind that the Secret Area of the CASIO has to be backuped/restored
separate.
