Two of the major developments reshaping the telecommunications landscape are mobile wireless connectivity and the migration of voice telephone services to IP technology. Those two ideas come together in networks that carry voice services over a wireless LAN (VoWLAN). The purpose of this text is to provide network professionals with the technical background and practical guidance needed to deploy these networks successfully.

This is a book on wireless communication. That usually means communica- tion by radio, though ultrasound and infrared light are also used occasion- ally. The term “wireless” has come to mean nonbroadcast communication, usually between individuals who very often use portable or mobile equip- ment. The term is rather vague, of course, and there are certainly borderline applications that are called wireless without falling exactly into the above definition.

The present work, Advanced Process Engineering Control, is intended to be the continuation of the authorsʼ Basic Process Engineering Control published by DeGruyter in 2014. It presents the main and conventional type control loops in process industries. Titles containing the concept of process engineering were deliberately chosen to suggest the inclusion, within the same approach, of processes other than the traditional ones. These come from outside the traditional fields of chemistry and petrochemistry: the sphere of pharmaceuticals, wastewater management, water puri fication, water reserve management, construction material industry, food processing, household or automotive industries.
