The first edition as well as its forerunner of Kuffel and Abdullah published in 1970 and their translations into Japanese and Chinese languages have enjoyed wide international acceptance as basic textbooks in teaching senior under- graduate and postgraduate courses in High-Voltage Engineering. Both texts have also been extensively used by practising engineers engaged in the design and operation of high-voltage equipment. Over the years the Authors have received numerous comments from the text’s users with helpful suggestions for improvements. These have been incorporated in the present edition. Major revisions and expansion of several chapters have been made to update the continued progress and developments in high-voltage engineering over the past two decades.

There are others goals, of course, but in the end, when you’ve finished the book, we’re hoping you’ll have enjoyed the activities described in these pages. Many books use the Introduction to explain exactly what the book is about, what the reader will learn, what the reader needs (a skill or maybe an item or piece of software), and what the reader will be left with when that last page is completed. The present work, Advanced Process Engineering Control, is intended to be the continuation of the Authorsʼ Basic Process Engineering Control published by DeGruyter in 2014. It presents the main and conventional type control loops in process industries. Titles containing the concept of process engineering were deliberately chosen to suggest the inclusion, within the same approach, of processes other than the traditional ones. These come from outside the traditional fields of chemistry and petrochemistry: the sphere of pharmaceuticals, wastewater management, water puri fication, water reserve management, construction material industry, food processing, household or automotive industries.
